This Winter, A Philippine Island Resort Adds Luxury Casitas And Activities

As the Philippines enters its peak travel season, Amanpulo on Pamalican Island is rolling out a series of new experiences for winter 2025. From upgraded spa and fitness facilities to a new beachfront casita and the return of kitesurfing season, December is shaping up to be the resort’s most active time of year.

Getting there is part of the appeal. Reached only by Aman’s private twin-engine aircraft, Amanpulo feels removed from everyday life from the moment you land. Villas and casitas are spread widely along the shoreline, opening onto long stretches of white sand that are rarely disturbed, aside from the occasional Hawksbill turtle.

That sense of space carries through to the resort’s newest accommodation, the Grand Beach Pool Casita. Set on the quieter south-eastern edge of the island, the 257-square-metre retreat features a private garden with direct access to the beach. A plunge pool and outdoor Jacuzzi sit alongside modern Filipino-inspired interiors overlooking the lagoon and coral reef.

Wellness continues to be a focus, with significant upgrades to the spa. Located at the island’s highest point, the expanded facilities now include a Pilates Reformer Studio with panoramic views, as well as dedicated strength and cardio spaces.

New private steam suites with jet showers and infrared therapy are designed to support recovery and circulation. From January 15 to March 1, 2026, guests can also take part in the Fitness Restart Programme, which combines cold immersion, personal training and an Inner Balance Massage.

From December through to the end of March, attention shifts to the lagoon as the Amihan winds return and kitesurfing season begins. Steady winds, shallow waters and clear conditions suit both beginners and experienced riders, with private sessions launching directly from the beach.

Those new to the sport can join First Flight, a three-day introductory programme covering the basics before building up to a first water start. This season’s sessions are led by Filipino kitesurfing specialists Jing Tabangay and Warner Janoya.

On the water, two new Axopar speedboats—Amihan and Pawikan—add to the resort’s range of experiences. Guests can head out for guided snorkelling on the house reef, enjoy sunset drinks at the floating kawayan bar or join freediving sessions on selected dates. These sit alongside Amanpulo’s complimentary activities, including sailing, paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkelling.

Access to the island has also become easier. Daily flights from Clark International Airport to Pamalican Island began in October 2025, making travel easier for guests across Asia. With international carriers such as Qatar Airways, Emirates and Jetstar Asia flying into Clark, Amanpulo is now more straightforward to reach.
