Stormy Conditions Expected In Klang Valley


The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in central Peninsular Malaysia, with heavy rain and strong winds expected until 4pm on Jan 19.

Affected areas include Bentong in Pahang, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang in Selangor, as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Negeri Sembilan, the warning covers Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau.

MetMalaysia said the alert is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour are occurring or expected to persist for more than one hour.

The department noted that thunderstorm warnings are short-term advisories, valid for up to six hours for each issuance, and advised the public to stay alert to changing weather conditions.
