Samsung Galaxy A57 Set for Premium Makeover with Flexible OLED

No More Thick Bezels: Samsung Galaxy A57 Dumps Rigid Screens for New Tech

Samsung is blurring the line between its mid-range heroes and flagship titans, and the secret lies in a major supply chain shake-up that could change the look of budget-friendly phones forever. For the first time, Chinese display manufacturer CSOT is expected to break into the supply chain for Samsung’s Galaxy A series, signalling a significant shift in how the tech giant sources its most critical components.

According to a report by The Elec, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A57 will feature a flexible OLED panel, a premium specification previously reserved for top-tier devices. This development ends the exclusive run of Samsung Display as the sole provider for the A5X series, which stands as the highest-specification model outside of the flagship Galaxy S line.

The Shift to Flexible OLED

The move to flexible OLED represents a major visual upgrade for the A-series. Previous models relied on rigid OLED panels which use glass substrates. The new flexible panels use a polyimide substrate, allowing for significantly thinner and more uniform bezels. This change addresses one of the few remaining design differentiators between Samsung’s mid-range and flagship offerings.

While Samsung Display is still expected to supply the majority of units for the A57, the inclusion of CSOT (China Star Optoelectronics Technology) marks a pivotal diversification strategy. Reports indicate that CSOT will also supply flexible OLED screens for the upcoming Galaxy S26 FE (Fan Edition).

Key Specifications and Timeline

Beyond the display upgrade, the Galaxy A57 is shaping up to be a powerhouse in the mid-range segment. Rumoured to launch in February 2026, the device is expected to feature:

  • Chipset: Exynos 1680
  • Charging: 45W fast charging support
  • Camera System: A triple rear setup including a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro unit.

By bringing flexible OLED technology to the A57, Samsung appears ready to challenge the aggressive design standards set by Chinese competitors, who have increasingly adopted high-end panels in the sub-$400 market.
