No Changes To School Uniform In 2026, Standardisation Still In Review, MOE Clarifies
The Ministry of Education has clarified that the proposed standardisation of school uniforms is still under review and will not affect the 2026 school session.
In a media statement, MOE said any final decision on the matter will only be made after a comprehensive evaluation of all relevant aspects, with implementation, if approved, targeted for the 2027 school session.
“As such, there will be no changes to students’ school uniforms for the 2026 school year,” the ministry said, adding that parents and all relevant stakeholders will be informed well in advance should any decision be finalised.
The ministry explained that the proposal to standardise school uniforms is aimed at fostering a sense of togetherness and unity among students. It is also intended to help address the financial burden faced by parents in preparing school attire for their children.
MOE reiterated its commitment to ensuring that any policy decision prioritises the welfare of students and families, and assured the public that careful consideration will be given before any changes are introduced.
