RHB Bank Appoints Former BNM Assistant Governor As Senior Independent Director
RHB Bank Berhad has announced the redesignation of Donald Joshua Jaganathan as its Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, effective May 6, 2026.
Jaganathan, 66, is a seasoned veteran of the Malaysian financial regulatory landscape, boasting a career at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) that spanned over three decades. His appointment to the senior role signals RHB’s commitment to robust corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
He is best known for his extensive tenure at the central bank, where he served as Assistant Governor from 2011 to 2019. During his time at BNM, he held several pivotal roles, including serving as an adviser to the Central Bank of Seychelles and the Bank of Namibia and heading various departments between 1999 and 2010 after starting his career as a banking supervisor in 1983.
A highly qualified professional, Mr. Jaganathan holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from the University of Malaya and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management, UK. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme
As part of the bank’s transparency requirements, RHB confirmed that Jaganathan has no family ties to any director or major shareholder, nor does he have any conflict of interest with the group. He currently holds 40,000 ordinary shares in RHB Bank Berhad.
