Lion Industries Unit Amsteel Faces Legal Suit Filed By Linde Malaysia

Lion Industries Corporation Berhad said its 99%-owned subsidiary, Amsteel Mills Sdn Bhd (AMSB), is facing arbitration proceedings initiated by Linde Malaysia Sdn Bhd over an alleged breach of a long-term industrial gas supply agreement.

The group said AMSB was notified by the Asian International Arbitration Centre through a letter dated 4 May 2026, which was received by the subsidiary’s solicitors on 14 May 2026, regarding arbitration proceedings commenced by Linde on 22 April 2026.

Linde alleged that AMSB had breached an agreement dated 1 July 2017 for the supply of oxygen, nitrogen and argon at the Bukit Rajah Industrial Estate.

As part of the arbitration claim, Linde is seeking declarations that the agreement remains valid and enforceable until 16 August 2031 and that AMSB remains liable for all charges payable under the contract until that date.

The industrial gases supplier is also claiming RM16.67 million as at 6 March 2026, as well as additional payments amounting to RM79.73 million from 6 March 2026 until 16 August 2031, or alternatively damages for breach of contract.

In addition, Linde is seeking interest, legal costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the tribunal.

Lion Industries said AMSB is currently seeking legal advice on the merits of the claim and possible courses of action.

The group added that the financial and operational impact of the arbitration cannot be determined with reasonable certainty at this stage and that further announcements would be made should there be any material developments.
