Johor Polls Set For July 11, Negeri Sembilan To Vote On August 1
The Election Commission (EC) has set July 11 as polling day for the Johor state election and August 1 for the Negeri Sembilan state election following the dissolution of the two state assemblies.
In a statement on Friday, the EC said nomination day for the Johor polls will be held on June 27, with early voting on July 7. Campaigning will run for 14 days until 11.59pm on July 10.
For Negeri Sembilan, nomination day has been fixed on July 18, followed by early voting on July 28. The campaign period will end at 11.59pm on July 31.
The elections will involve all 56 seats in Johor and 36 seats in Negeri Sembilan.
A total of 2,727,926 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in Johor, while Negeri Sembilan has 889,490 registered voters, bringing the combined electorate to more than 3.6 million people.
The EC estimated the Johor election will cost RM86.8 million and involve 42,971 personnel, while the Negeri Sembilan polls are expected to cost RM80.6 million with 15,344 election workers deployed.
Postal voting applications for Johor have been open since June 5, while applications for Negeri Sembilan opened on Friday. Applications are conducted online through the EC portal.
The electoral rolls for both states, updated with supplementary voter lists up to April 2026, will be available for purchase beginning June 23.
The EC said live streaming of selected polling channels will continue on its Facebook page, while its “Jom Kita Undi” campaign will be intensified across various media platforms to encourage voter turnout.
