Gothic Hit Wednesday Returns for Season 3 Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

Netflix has officially confirmed the return of Wednesday for a third season, much to the delight of fans worldwide. The announcement arrives ahead of the much-anticipated release of Season 2, which will unfold in two parts on August 6 and September 3, 2025.

First launched in November 2022, Wednesday became a global sensation almost overnight. With over 252 million views in its first 91 days, it currently holds the record as Netflix’s most-watched English-language series of all time. Season 1 alone stayed at the top of the Netflix Global Top 10 for six straight weeks and reached number one in 90 countries.

Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar promise fans can expect even darker delights in Season 3. “This time, she’ll unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt,” they teased, keeping true to the show’s signature blend of morbid humour and teen drama.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, also praised the series’ impact, noting how Wednesday quickly established itself as a cultural phenomenon. With its unique blend of dark humour and supernatural intrigue, the show has captured a global audience and sparked a wave of fan enthusiasm.

Following the huge success of the first season, and with Season 2 generating over 2.8 billion social media impressions, Netflix is confident that Season 3 will continue to captivate viewers.

Season 2 will see Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, return to Nevermore Academy, facing new challenges and supernatural mysteries in her signature deadpan style. The story promises plenty of dark, quirky twists and the return of familiar faces alongside fresh foes.

Details on Season 3’s cast and storyline are still under wraps, but if past success is anything to go by, Wednesday’s reign is far from over.
