Eight Malls That Trended for Their Chinese New Year Displays
During the Chinese New Year celebrations, several locations feature vibrant decorations and displays. Each mall had something unique for their Lunar New Year installation. From elaborate fixtures to charming sculptures, many beautiful decorations adorn various malls, with some clearly surpassing the rest. Among the many venues that put up Chinese New Year displays, there are a selection of malls that ended up with trending installations.
Seria KLCC
KLCC consistently creates eye-catching displays for different holidays and Chinese New Year was no different. This Lunar New Year, KLCC’s display featured a grand arch welcoming visitors, leading them into a beautifully designed area that included a charming Chinese pagoda. Among the notable features were the twelve Chinese zodiacs, each representing a different aspect of Chinese culture and tradition. Highlighting the display was the Gold Blossoming Tree of Prosperity, which stood proudly in the garden.
Pavilion KL
Another mall that often puts up elaborate displays for different holidays is Pavilion KL. For this Chinese New Year, Pavilion KL featured a massive centrepiece made up of dazzling red lanterns designed to look almost like an elaborate traditional Chinese headpiece. Other features of the installation included statues of snakes and lion dance performers flanked by ong red flowers and even more lanterns. No matter where you stood and took photos, there was vibrancy to capture.
Sunway Pyramid
Sunway Pyramid’s Lunar New Year this year featured a combination of oriental structures, vibrant blossoms and glowing lanterns. Included in the display were pieces made from recycled materials like the Quad Wall Board and Kraft Triple Wall Board. Other than its vibrant decor, the mall included interactive experiences such as sending digital blessings, making it a fun experience to share on social media.
The Exchange TRX
The Exhange’s Chinese New Year installation stood out for its fusion of tradition and elegance featuring moving cranes bobbing gracefully beside a shimmering pond. More than this, the installation drew inspiration from classical Chinese gardens, showcasing lush floral arrangements, symbolic motifs, and elegant design elements. Also included in the display was a majestic bridge adorned with intricately crafted zodiac animal statues, leading to several beautiful photos and eye-catching videos.
1 Utama Shopping Centre
With an installation inspired by a Chinese Garden, 1 Utama Shopping Centre’s Lunar New Year display featured a quaint bridge spanning over a realistic-looking pond, complete with koi fish and lotus leaves. Acting as the centrepiece was a striking red pagoda, elegantly adorned with lanterns, while giant water lilies, cherry blossom trees and colourful flowers surrounded it. Furthermore, if you went underneath the pagoda, you would see a delicate painting design that made for a nice contrast in photos and videos.
Queensbay
Elaborate designs were featured at Queensbay Mall’s Chinese New Year display with towering blue-and-white Chinese ceramic vases being surrounded by cherry blossoms. Additionally, there were luminous butterflies, and golden floral accents, creating an enchanting spring garden scene. At the centre of the display was a golden pavilion nestled within the grand central vase, illuminated by traditional lanterns. No matter then angle, there were plenty of photogenic imagery that could be shared.
Mid Valley Megamall
Among the sea of red displays, Mid Valley Megamall’s Chinese New Year installation stood out with a vibrant collection of hand-painted Chinese kites and delicate drapes that soared high above its Centre Court. In addition to their whimsical display, the installation had a special Spring Calligraphy Station where you can write out a greeting for 2025 on and have it printed out.
IOI City Mall
For this year’s Lunar New Year Celebration, there was a pavilion perched on a bridge, which you climb up to get some pretty stunning shots. Surrounding the pavilion were details such as rocks and an array of blooms to solidify a garden-inspired look. While not as elaborate as other displays, it circled social media for it’s decor detail.
Several malls stood out with distinct Chinese New Year displays but only a selection managed to end up to circle around social media. From KLCC’s zodiac statues to Queensbay’s ceramic installations, there were plenty of displays that provided vibrant photos and videos.
