Bursa Midday Up 0.25% As Consumer And Healthcare Stocks Lead Gains

The FBMKLCI rose 4.12 points, or 0.25%, to 1,629.79 at midday trading on 17 November 2025, supported by broad-based gains across consumer and healthcare sectors. The FBM70 added 11.90 points to 16,902.77, while the FBMEMAS and FBMSHA rose 24.07 points and 24.57 points to 12,078.92 and 12,083.74 respectively.

Market activity was highlighted by MMAG, which led volume charts with 106.34 million shares traded, although it fell 0.010 to 0.065. Other active counters included TANCO (+0.010 to 0.965), TWL (unchanged at 0.025), Pharmaniaga (-0.020 to 0.240), and GENM (unchanged at 2.370).

Consumer staples gained notably, with F&N leading top gainers at RM33.18, up 0.720, followed by Nestlé (+0.400 to RM113.90) and HLIND (+0.300 to RM15.10). MPI and UTDPLT also posted midday gains. Meanwhile, plantation and technology-linked counters underperformed, with KLK slipping 0.180 to RM21.08, SAM down 0.160 to RM4.30, UWC down 0.140 to RM3.70, VSTECS down 0.140 to RM4.12, and UNISEM declining 0.100 to RM3.26.

Analysts noted that market sentiment was buoyed by several recent corporate developments. Pharmaniaga’s ongoing operational improvements and expansion into vaccines and insulin distribution continue to underpin healthcare sector interest, while EPF’s 9-month investment income of RM63.99 billion has strengthened confidence in institutional investor activity.

Meanwhile, HI Mobility’s announcement of RM82.52 million acquisitions in the commercial vehicle segment and the Ministry of Transport’s move to table the Malaysian Transport Safety Board (MTSB) memorandum also provided additional catalysts for transport and infrastructure-linked counters.

Total market turnover remained moderate, with strong participation in both consumer and healthcare counters, reflecting continued investor focus on companies with steady operational growth and government-linked support.
