Bursa Malaysia Dips Midday Amid Regional Sell-Offs


Bursa Malaysia extended its morning slide, pressured by weaker Wall Street cues.

At 12:30pm, the FBM KLCI fell 2.69 points, or 0.17%, to 1,617.27, after opening slightly lower at 1,617.72. The benchmark oscillated between 1,614.60 and 1,618.85.

Market breadth tilted negative with 766 losers outnumbering 273 gainers. Turnover reached 2.66 billion shares valued at RM1.39 billion, while 449 counters were unchanged.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Press Metal gained two sen each, IHH Healthcare added four sen, but Public Bank, CIMB and TNB fell two sen each.

Investors stayed cautious, tracking regional sell-offs and mixed corporate earnings in a volatile morning session.
