Xiaomi Reportedly Developing 10,000mAh Smartphone in Surprisingly Slim Body

Thin Yet Powerful: Xiaomi Testing 10,000mAh Flagship Prototype

A new leak circulating on Chinese social media suggests that Xiaomi is developing a smartphone with a massive 10,000mAh battery. Despite the immense capacity, the device is rumoured to maintain a standard flagship thickness, signalling a significant leap in battery density technology.

The information originates from Digital Chat Station, a prominent and frequently accurate tipster on the Weibo platform. In a recent post, the leaker outlined specifications for an engineering prototype that combines “super large battery capacity” with a relatively thin profile.

According to the leak, the device is currently being tested with the following features:

  • Battery Capacity: Approximately 10,000mAh.
  • Charging: 100W wired fast charging and “full speed” wireless charging.
  • Thickness: Surprisingly, the phone is said to be under 8.5mm thick.
  • Performance: It is expected to run on a flagship-tier processor (likely a MediaTek Dimensity 9-series chip) rather than a mid-range chipset often found in “battery monster” phones.
  • Display: A ~6.8-inch flat OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a high refresh rate (possibly 165Hz).

The ability to fit a 10,000mAh battery into a chassis thinner than 8.5mm indicates the use of advanced silicon-carbon anode battery technology. This tech allows for significantly higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion cells, enabling manufacturers to increase capacity without making the phone bulky or heavy.

For comparison, many current flagships with 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh batteries are often between 8mm and 9mm thick. A 10,000mAh cell in a similar form factor would effectively double the battery life for heavy users without the ergonomic penalty usually associated with rugged battery phones.

Industry analysts believe this device likely falls under Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand, known for prioritising performance and battery life. It may be a future iteration of an existing series or a new entry in the performance-focused Turbo lineup.
