Vantris Energy Appoints Industry Veteran Rohaizad As Executive Director
Vantris Energy Berhad has appointed Rohaizad bin Darus, a seasoned industry leader with more than three decades of experience in the global oil and gas sector, as its Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director, effective 17 November 2025.
Rohaizad, 60, previously served as President and Executive Director of Velesto Energy Berhad before retiring. Velesto is one of Malaysia’s largest offshore drilling and oilfield services companies and a major contractor to Petronas and other national and international oil companies.
With a career spanning 32 years, he has held key roles across both local and multinational organisations, including Petronas Gas, Sarku Engineering, SapuraCrest Petroleum—a predecessor to Vantris Energy—Velesto Energy, Texas Instruments, and Esso Production Malaysia Inc.
His expertise covers a broad spectrum of upstream oil and gas activities, from engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) to drilling and processing operations. He has also overseen heavy-lift and pipelay barge construction, managed marine vessel operations, and led multiple major domestic and international projects.
Beyond technical and operational leadership, Rohaizad has extensive corporate experience, having managed exercises such as IPOs, rights issues, restructuring and rebranding initiatives, refinancing, demergers and capital reduction exercises.
Rohaizad remains active in the industry as a member of the Industry Advisory Panel for the Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), a government agency under the Ministry of Economy tasked with supporting and advancing the oil and gas services sector. He has also served as an adviser to the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and is registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM) and a mentor for ICDM and the 30% Club Malaysia.
