The iPhone 16e is the latest budget buys from Apple – Starts from RM2,999

Well, the long tease has finally ended with an official announcement and no, it is not the Apple iPhone SE 4.
It is the iPhone 16e for this year.
Boasting a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with an edge-to-edge design, the “budget model” does not skimp on the screen factor since this is literally the most important aspect of a smartphone from daily driving to entertainment enjoyment.
Under the hood is an A18 SoC coming in with 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine configuration (Although sources say they downclocked the GPU by about 20% compared to the standard iPhone models). The device is also IP68 rated for water and dust resistance while the Ceramic Shield front cover and durable back glass (clear and not colored) offers a simple aesthetic with strong protection.
Apple also said that it has enhanced battery life thanks to the new C1 modem and newly designed motherboard, leading to the longest device uptime across the entire iPhone 16 lineup.
This new model also supports the full Apple Intelligence suite of AI-powered features from Clean Up and Image Playground to Writing Tools and direct ChatGPT integration.
The Action button, on the other hand, has been made to be the “Quick Access” one-stop hub by implementing a camera, flashlight, Shazam, and more. By accessing the Camera app, the 40MP Fusion camera and integrated 2x Telephoto lenses combined into a single module that also supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording and Spatial Audio make it a high-resolution-capable device that does not lose to the general market.
One can also find satellite features like Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My provide connectivity and assistance beyond cellular and Wi-Fi coverage powering the iPhone 16e.

There will be 3 storage options for the iPhone 16e and it is priced as follows in Malaysia:
- 128GB @ RM2,999
- 256GB @ RM3,499
- 512GB @ RM4,499
Black and White Matte finishes will be the only color options here and you can start preordering beginning this Friday with live stocks hitting stores nationwide starting February 28.
