The Henderson Unveils Hong Kong’s New Landmark for Food and Design

The Henderson in Hong Kong launches Central’s newest skyward multi-experience destination, featuring three distinct dining and bar concepts set to open in late 2025.

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, The Henderson introduces three new restaurants and bars, arranged as a vertical journey through the building. The experience begins with Akira Back on the 5th floor, rises to Summit 38 on the 38th, and culminates at the Cloud 39 rooftop ballroom.

The first opening launches this September with Akira Back, the chef’s Hong Kong debut. His restaurant group spans more than 27 locations worldwide. Back is celebrated for his Michelin-starred take on modern Japanese-Korean cuisine.

At The Henderson, he blends Korean heritage with Japanese sensibilities and American influences. The interiors, designed by AB Concept, add a personal touch. Plates are decorated with artwork by Back’s mother, Young Hee Back, and a private dining room features graffiti-inspired designs derived from her paintings.

In October, the focus shifts upwards to Summit 38 on the 38th floor. This new lifestyle hub will introduce two distinct concepts. Peridot offers terroir-driven cocktails, plant-based haute cuisine, and live entertainment.

Hana no Kumo, led by Executive Chef Ogawa Masaru, specialises in kappou dining. Its Kyoto-inspired interiors create an intimate setting, with a curated sake list that showcases Japan’s finest regional brews.

Summit 38 also features event spaces named after iconic peaks across the globe. The design, by Studio Paolo Ferrari and HBA, combines innovation with elegance. The result is a destination that is as visually striking as it is culinary ambitious.

The Henderson itself is a 465,000-square-foot Grade-A office tower that blends sustainability, smart technology, and architectural innovation.

It has received numerous awards, including the HKIA Medal of the Year 2024 and Platinum certifications for WELL and LEED standards. The building’s design mimics the organic layering of a Bauhinia bud, offering column-free, light-filled office spaces that promote collaboration.

With its blend of elevated dining and immersive design, The Henderson is positioning itself as Hong Kong’s premier address for those seeking experiences that rise above the ordinary.
