Stock Market Continues Positive Momentum To End Trading Week





Bursa Malaysia closed higher on the final trading day of the week, lifted by positive regional cues and improved investor sentiment.

In the broader market, gainers thumped decliners 543 to 256, while 441 counters were unchanged, 1,183 were untraded and 29 others were suspended.

Turnover dwindled to 1.69 billion units valued at RM1.24 billion from 2.4 billion units valued at RM1.60 billion on April 17.

The gainers were led by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd who gained RM1.12 to close the trading week at RM26.74, followed by United Plantations Bhd who rose 78 sen to RM22.78, Petronas Gas Bhd who surged 46 sen to RM16.90, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd who jumped 40 sen to RM28 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd who increased by 36 sen to close at RM19.34.

On the other hand, Nestle (M) which gained RM4.56 on April 17 ended RM1.80 lower on April 18 to close the trading week at RM79.80. Other top decliners include Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd which eased 25 sen to RM5.60, Heineken Malaysia Bhd fell 16 sen to RM26.66, SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd dropped 11 sen to RM3.25 and A-Rank Bank Bhd decreased seven sen to 46 sen.
