Sporadic Thunderstorms In Both West And East Malaysia Reported
Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit several parts of Malaysia this afternoon, with warnings in effect until 7 pm on March 8, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The affected areas include Perak, Pahang, Selangor, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and parts of Sarawak.
In Perak, the warning covers Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Batang Padang.
In Pahang, thunderstorms are expected in Jerantut, Maran and Bera. Selangor districts affected include Kuala Selangor and Petaling, while the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is also under the advisory.
In Johor, Batu Pahat and Pontian are expected to experience severe weather. In Sarawak, the warning covers Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit) and Bintulu.
MetMalaysia said the thunderstorm warning is issued when conditions indicate heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning that may pose hazards to life and property. The advisory is a short-term warning, valid until 7 pm from the time it is issued.
