SGX Opens Higher, STI Gains 0.63% In Early Trade


The Singapore Exchange (SGX) started the week on a positive note, with the Straits Times Index (STI) climbing 30.41 points, or 0.63%, to 4,891.34 in early trade.

Market activity showed 99 advancing stocks against 49 decliners, with a total trading volume of 68.15 million shares valued at S$147.22 million.

Leading the gains were blue chips DBS, which rose 0.76 points to S$59.05 (+1.3%), and UOB, trading at S$38.43. Singtel added ground at S$4.54, while OCBC Bank was steady at S$21.19. Shipbuilding stocks YZJ Shipbuilding and Nam Cheong also saw early buying interest.

In derivatives, equity index futures reflected steady activity, with the MSCI Singapore Index Futures at 459.55 and Nikkei 225 Futures at 52,915.00, while FX and commodity futures tracked moderate early movements.

The market opened firm amid cautious optimism from investors, following strong regional cues and a broadly positive start in Asia Pacific equities.
