Seven More Books Banned Under Printing Act

The Home Affairs Ministry (KDN) has banned seven more books under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984, citing concerns over national security, public order and societal harmony.

The books, officially gazetted between April 15 and 17, include a mix of fiction and religious-themed titles:

  • The American Roommate Experiment
  • Tuan Ziyad: Forbidden Love
  • Darlingku Mr Cold Mafia
  • Mischievous Killer
  • Love, Theoretically
  • Suhuf Abraham
  • Kougar 2

This latest move adds to a growing list of publications barred by the government over the past months.

In February, KDN had also banned My Shadow Is Purple, All That’s Left in the World, and Koleksi Puisi Masturbasi, labelling them as “undesirable publications” containing morally harmful elements.

“The government remains committed to curb elements or movements that contradict the local sociocultural fabric,” said KDN in a statement. “This is important to prevent the spread of ideologies that conflict with the culture of Malaysia’s diverse society.”

Under Section 7 of the Act, anyone found printing, importing, producing, reproducing, publishing, selling or distributing these banned titles faces up to three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both upon conviction.
