PlayStation Dives into Desktop Gaming with New 27-Inch QHD Display Monitor
PlayStation Expands Ecosystem with New 27-Inch Gaming Monitor
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially unveiled its new PlayStation-branded 27-inch Gaming Monitor, signalling a significant move to capture the desktop gaming market. The announcement, made via the PlayStation Blog, details a display built specifically to pair with the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles.
The new monitor, set to launch in the U.S. and Japan in 2026, is designed to offer a high-performance alternative for players who prefer a desk setup over a traditional living room TV.
Key Features and Specifications

The 27-inch display features a QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS panel, which Sony says provides a comfortable viewing distance for desktop use.
Key technical specifications announced include HDR support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically calibrates HDR settings when connected to a PS5 or PS5 Pro console. The monitor also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) for smoother gameplay at up to 120 Hz on PS5 consoles. For compatible PC and Mac users, it boasts a high refresh rate of up to 240 Hz.

In a unique, console-focused design choice, the monitor also includes a built-in charging hook for a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller.
Connectivity and Audio

The monitor aims to be a central hub for a desktop setup, offering a robust suite of ports, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio output jack.
The monitor also includes built-in stereo speakers and is compatible with VESA mounting systems. Sony noted that the USB ports could be used for accessories like the PlayStation Link adapter, reinforcing its integration into the PlayStation ecosystem.
The announcement comes as Sony also promotes its recently announced Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, with both products “designed with the PS5 desktop gaming experience in mind.”
Pricing for the new 27-inch Gaming Monitor has not yet been announced. While the initial launch is confirmed for the U.S. and Japan, availability in other regions, including Malaysia, remains unknown at the time of writing. Sony has stated that more information on the launch date and availability will be shared in the coming months.
