Petronas, JOGMEC Ink LNG Deal To Boost Energy Security For Japan
Petronas LNG Sdn Bhd (PLSB), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd, has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) to strengthen collaboration in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.
The agreement, formalised during the Energy Asia 2025 conference in Kuala Lumpur, aims to enhance LNG supply stability to Japan and explore strategic measures to manage potential disruptions.
“This MoC is a testament to our longstanding partnership with Japan and underscores our commitment to regional energy security,” said Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim, Petronas Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, who signed the agreement alongside JOGMEC Executive Vice President Hiroyuki Mori.
Japan has been a key LNG export market for Petronas since 1983. The new partnership builds on that legacy amid growing regional focus on reliable, cleaner energy sources.
