OWC’s refreshed Express 4M2 brings USB4 speed and near-silent cooling for pros on the go

So OWC just dropped a new version of their Express 4M2 enclosure, and if you’re working with tons of media like 8K video, high-res photography, or massive project files, this one’s worth a look.

OWC 4M2 Updated (1)

It’s a compact, four-slot NVMe M.2 SSD enclosure that now plays nice with USB4 and Thunderbolt, plus it runs cooler and quieter thanks to smart thermal controls.

This thing is built for speed, pushing real-world transfer rates up to 3200MB/s, and you can set it up however you like with RAID modes 0, 1, 4, 5, or 10. Whether you’re chasing performance, redundancy, or a mix of both, it’s flexible enough to match your workflow.

One of the standout upgrades is the adaptive fans that only kick in when needed. So even during heavy-duty editing or offloading multi-cam shoots, you’re not distracted by noise or heat. The aluminum shell helps with that too, keeping everything cool without getting in your way.

You can pop in up to four NVMe drives (sizes 2230, 2242, or 2280), and some models even come bundled with SoftRAID, OWC’s own RAID management tool for macOS and Windows. Oh, and they’ve thrown in a certified 40Gbps USB-C cable, so you’re ready to go right out of the box.

Pricing starts at US$239.99 for the base model (no drives), or US$379.99 if you want the one with SoftRAID included. Pre-orders are open now, and shipping kicks off next week. Full details are up at owc.com.
