Nothing Will Skip Flagship Smartphone Launches in 2026, Says Carl Pei

Nothing Pauses Flagship Releases Next Year to Focus on Software and Experience

TL;DR: Nothing will not release any new flagship smartphones in 2026. The Nothing Phone (3) will remain the brand’s only flagship for the year.

Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the company will not release any new flagship smartphones in 2026, stating that the recently launched Nothing Phone (3) will be the brand’s only flagship device this year.

Pei shared the update in a recent video, where he outlined the brand’s product strategy and clarified expectations around its smartphone roadmap. According to Pei, the decision to pause flagship launches in 2026 is a deliberate move rather than a sign of slowdown, allowing the company to focus on refining its existing products and software experience.

With the Phone (3) positioned as the brand’s sole flagship offering, the company appears to be shifting its attention toward long-term platform development instead of chasing annual hardware refresh cycles. Pei noted that releasing fewer high-end devices gives Nothing more time to improve stability, user experience, and ecosystem integration.

Phone (4a): A New Chapter

The move marks a clear departure from the typical smartphone industry approach, where flagship models are refreshed every year. By contrast, the brand is opting for a slower, more intentional release cadence, especially at the premium end of its lineup.

Nothing is still expected to remain active in other segments, with Pei suggesting that midrange or experimental products could continue to play a role in the company’s portfolio. However, no specific devices or timelines were confirmed during the discussion.

For consumers, this means the Phone (3) will continue to represent the company’s highest-end smartphone throughout 2026, with no direct successor planned until at least the following year.
