MIHAS 2025 Eyes RM4.5 Billion in Global Halal Trade with AI-Powered Platform

The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) returns for its 21st edition from 17 to 20 September 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), setting an ambitious target of RM4.5 billion in global Halal sales.

At the heart of this push is the showcase’s game-changing MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) platform, an AI-driven solution designed to revolutionise business matchmaking and trade connectivity across the Halal ecosystem.

Under the theme “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence”, MIHAS 2025 aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global Halal leader by seamlessly linking buyers and sellers through intelligent digital tools.

The MDT platform, embedded into MIHAS’s flagship International Sourcing Programme (INSP), will use AI algorithms to match Malaysian exporters with qualified international buyers based on real-time data, market trends, and specific business preferences.

This digital leap underscores Malaysia’s broader goals under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Trade Blueprint (NTBp), particularly in accelerating digitalisation and strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In 2024, the INSP alone contributed RM2.53 billion in sales, highlighting its effectiveness in fostering trade relationships.

Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), MIHAS 2025 builds on a proud legacy.

Last year’s edition attracted over 43,000 visitors from 90 countries and recorded RM4.3 billion in total sales. This year, MIHAS is expected to be even bigger, with over 2,380 booths across nine halls, representing 45 countries and 14 Halal industry clusters—including food and beverages, Islamic finance, modest fashion, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.

As Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, MIHAS will also play a strategic regional role by promoting collaboration across ASEAN and with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Dedicated pavilions for ASEAN nations and GCC countries are expected to amplify trade linkages and promote cross-border Halal partnerships.

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, highlighted the importance of Malaysia’s global leadership in the Halal sector. “Despite ongoing global economic uncertainties, the global Halal market is projected to grow to US$5.0 trillion by 2030.

“With Malaysia holding the world’s gold standard for Halal-certified goods and services, this presents a significant opportunity for our exporters. The AI-powered MDT platform will be instrumental in helping us achieve MIHAS’s RM4.5 billion target in 2025.”

Chairman of MATRADE, Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, added that MIHAS 2025 is redefining how businesses connect, collaborate, and thrive.

“The MADANI Digital Trade Platform is our AI-powered business matching system, designed to empower MSMEs to access international markets seamlessly and efficiently. Despite challenges such as global trade tensions, we remain committed to strengthening Malaysia’s export initiatives, especially in high-growth and emerging markets such as Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America,” he said.

MIHAS is also expanding its international footprint with the return of MIHAS@Shanghai. Set to be held alongside the China International Import Expo (CIIE) from 5 to 10 November 2025, this initiative aims to tap into East Asia’s booming Halal market, following the success of MIHAS’s international debut in Dubai last year.

As the Halal economy evolves, MIHAS 2025 stands ready to shape the next chapter of global Halal trade—powered by innovation, backed by AI, and led by Malaysia.
