Midday Market Mood With Cautious Sentiment Weighing On FBM KLCI
Bursa Malaysia edged lower at midday, with the FBM KLCI dipping 1.83 points, or 0.10%, to 1,746.43.
Most key indices mirrored the cautious sentiment, with the FBMEMAS down 11.76 points (-0.09%) to 12,764.65 and the FBMSHA easing 16.65 points (-0.14%) to 12,280.92.
Meanwhile, the FBM70 bucked the trend slightly, gaining 2.46 points (+0.01%) to 17,480.20.
Trading activity was led by PHARMA, which last changed hands at RM0.33, up 0.005, with a volume of over 103 million shares.
CAPITALA and TANCO followed, closing at RM0.60 and RM1.34, rising 0.005 and 0.01 respectively, while BPURI and DNEX were among the heaviest decliners, with DNEX down 0.01 to RM0.29 on 18 million shares traded.
Among top gainers, UTDPLT surged 0.60 to RM29.78 on strong buying interest of more than 2.1 million shares, while DLADY, ALLIANZ, IHH, and GUOCO posted smaller gains.
The day’s biggest decliners included MPI, which fell 0.46 to RM32.60, followed by F&N (-0.40 to RM34.40), Nestle (-0.20 to RM112.00), PETDAG (-0.20 to RM20.12) and PENTA (-0.13 to RM3.19).
Market participants appeared cautious ahead of key corporate results and economic data, while buying interest was concentrated in healthcare and select blue-chip counters.
The local bourse saw mixed movements across sectors, with investors closely monitoring foreign flows and earnings updates for guidance.
