MATRADE Launches MADANI Digital Trade to Boost Malaysian Exports

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with Nazsoft Tech Sdn Bhd and with the support of the Royal Malaysia Customs Department (RMCD), has launched MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) (www.madanitrade.com). This integrated virtual platform aims to enhance Malaysian exporters’ access to global markets.

Officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), MDT offers business matching, an e-marketplace, market intelligence, grants, training, and trade-related business solutions.

Tengku Zafrul highlighted digital trade’s role in Malaysia’s economic transformation, aligning with the MADANI Economy Framework and MITI’s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030. “This initiative also supports Malaysia’s commitment to the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), strengthening the country’s position as a regional leader in digital trade.

“The MDT will empower SMEs to expand market reach, improve trade efficiency, and accelerate digital adoption, ensuring Malaysia remains competitive in the global digital economy,” he said.

The Royal Malaysia Customs Department (RMCD) enhances MDT’s functionality by integrating access to customs declarations for import, export, and e-commerce, streamlining regulatory compliance. This strategic collaboration leverages automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics to improve trade facilitation and efficiency.

According to Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Chairman of MATRADE, MDT aligns with the government’s strategy to leverage digital tools for market access and intelligence.

“This platform has the potential to empower exporters of all sizes, enabling them to connect with global markets, diversify their reach, and contribute to Malaysia’s goal of increasing the digital economy’s GDP share from 19.1% in 2019 to 22.6% by 2025,” he said.

Dr Muhammad Nazrol bin Zawawi, CEO of Nazsoft Tech, emphasised MDT’s role as a comprehensive information portal for Malaysian MSMEs. “By consolidating grants, training, permits, and real-time market intelligence, the platform enhances transparency and improves trade efficiency,” he noted.

Key Features of MDT

  • Virtual Engagement Platform – Connects exporters with MATRADE’s Premium Buyers and International Sourcing Programmes (INSP), facilitating B2B business matching and expanding buyer opportunities in diverse markets.
  • E-Marketplace & Market Aggregator – Showcases Malaysian products and services globally, helping MSMEs adapt to evolving market trends and consumer preferences.
  • Member Portal & Digital Trade Hub – Centralises exporter resources, grants, and training, streamlining trade procedures and reducing cross-border costs while enabling businesses to pivot toward emerging opportunities, including the green economy.
  • Business Solutions Centre – Provides access to shared services and solutions in ESG, IR4.0, trade financing, digital marketing, and virtual assistants, supporting business growth and market diversification.
  • MIVA (Intelligent Virtual Assistant) – A 24/7 AI-driven assistant that guides platform users, ensuring seamless navigation and support for buyers and exporters.

The MDT launch saw strong industry participation, bringing together exhibitors, buyers, government agencies, trade organisations, financial institutions, and logistics providers. The overwhelming response highlights MDT’s potential to foster meaningful business connections and drive trade opportunities despite global market uncertainties.
