Malaysia’s Eco Entrepreneurs Shine At 2025 Shell LiveWIRE Global Awards
Two Malaysian enterprises have clinched top honours in the Environmental Sustainability category of the 2025 Shell LiveWIRE Global Top Ten Innovators Award, placing Malaysia firmly on the global innovation map.
Materials in Works was named the grand winner for its breakthrough in converting hard-to-recycle industrial waste into repurposed materials.
“Winning this prestigious Top 10 Innovators award is a powerful validation of the company’s mission of turning what the world sees as waste into a valuable resource,” said founder John Ooi.
Runner-up Reclimate Sdn Bhd was recognised for its work with farming communities to turn agricultural waste into biochar and helping them access carbon markets through digital tools.
“This recognition strengthens our commitment to environmental innovation that drives real, lasting impact for both people and the planet,” said its COO, Annamalai Thani.
Malaysia’s Satu Creative was also named runner-up for the Implementing Partner Award for its contribution to Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia. “It’s a true honour for us to receive this award,” said Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Azuar Zainuddin.
Winners received US$20,000 in equity-free funding, while runners-up took home US$10,000. Implementing partners, including Satu Creative, will also attend the ANDE Global Conference in Mexico this September.
Shell Malaysia Country Chair Siti Sulaiman said, “It fills me with immense pride to see our nation’s passionate entrepreneurs gaining global recognition.”
The Shell LiveWIRE Top Ten Innovators programme spans four continents and champions purpose-driven entrepreneurs who tackle global challenges through sustainable business innovation.
