Malaysia Hosts ASEAN Digital Content Summit To Boost Creative Economy

The ASEAN Digital Content Summit 2025 (ADCS 2025) officially opened at Persada Johor International Convention Centre, bringing together over 2,000 participants from across the region to advance innovation and cross-border collaboration in animation, games and creative technology.

Organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the summit was officiated by Johor Menteri Besar Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Deputy Minister of Digital Malaysia Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.

ADCS 2025 features more than 10 country pavilions, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia and Vietnam, alongside over 100 exhibitors showcasing the region’s intellectual properties (IP) and creative innovations. The event includes high-level forums, business networking sessions and public showcases such as the Malaysia Animation Film Festival and Asia Creators Fest special pavilion.

Key highlights include the ASEAN Roundtable on Digital Content Collaboration, which will discuss AI-driven innovation, regional growth roadmaps and common policies across games, animation and creative technology, as well as Kre8tif! Business Xchange, ASEAN’s flagship B2B platform connecting creators with global broadcasters, distributors and investors.

Featured speakers include Koji Morimoto, co-founder of Japan’s Studio 4°C, who shared insights on animation and creative technology.

“The ASEAN region is home to a vibrant pool of talent in animation, games and digital content. ADCS 2025 allows us to move beyond servicing into creating original intellectual property that can compete globally,” said Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.

Malaysia has also secured the hosting of SIGGRAPH Asia 2026, one of the world’s largest computer graphics conferences, expected to attract over 3,000 professionals from Asia, the US and Europe, further strengthening the regional digital content ecosystem.

The summit is supported by the Johor State Government, TM, SME Corp Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Asia Creators Fest, KL Chapter ACM SIGGRAPH, Malaysia Esports Federation and RewardinMe, with media partners including RTM, Fair Indonesia, GoFluence, MYTV Broadcasting, AnimationXpress and Digital Braves.
