Johnny Coca Joins Saint Laurent In Key Accessories Role
Saint Laurent has named Johnny Coca creative director of men’s and women’s leather goods, as well as all accessories and lifestyle collections.
The appointment, confirmed by Coca on LinkedIn, strengthens the house’s creative structure under CEO Cédric Charbit. His brief is clear: translate Anthony Vaccarello’s vision into the bags and accessories that drive day-to-day sales. (Source: Fashion Network)
Coca, 50, is known for turning handbags into commercial successes. He trained at the Boulle and Duperré schools in Paris and began his career at Louis Vuitton’s Asnières workshops. He later became director of women’s leather goods at the brand, a role he returned to in 2020.
British shoppers will recognise his work from his five years at Mulberry, where he designed the Amberley and Iris bags. Earlier, during the Phoebe Philo era at Celine, he helped develop the Trapeze and Trio styles that defined a decade of modern luxury.
The timing matters. Parent company Kering reported €14.7 billion in revenue for 2025, with Saint Laurent contributing €2.6 billion to it. Sales were down 6% year on year on a comparable basis, but the brand maintained a 20 per cent recurring operating margin.
Accessories remain one of luxury’s most reliable growth engines. By bringing in a designer with a history of global ‘It bags’, Saint Laurent is doubling down on that category.
