JAECOO Malaysia Unveils the J8: A Bold New Challenger in the SUV Market
JAECOO Malaysia is making strides in the local SUV market with the introduction of the JAECOO J8, the latest addition to its growing portfolio. Designed to offer Malaysian consumers a blend of style, premium comfort, and high-performance capability, the J8 stays true to the brand’s essence—‘From Classic, Beyond Classic.’
Emily Lek, Vice President of JAECOO Malaysia, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the launch. “We are thrilled to present the JAECOO J8, a premium off-road SUV tailored to meet the unique demands of the Malaysian market. This model reinforces our commitment to providing greater options for consumers who seek both sophistication and practicality.”
The JAECOO J8 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged, direct-injection inline-four engine, producing an impressive 183kW of power and 385Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and twin exhaust pipes, it offers efficiency and performance.
With a 65-litre fuel tank, the J8 is well-equipped for long-distance travel. Its commanding presence is defined by its dimensions—1.71 metres in height, 1.93 metres in width, and 4.82 metres in length, with a wheelbase of 2.82 metres.
Available in two variants, the J8 offers both a Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) five-seater and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) six-seater. The AWD model is equipped with JAECOO’s advanced Continuous Damping Control (CDC) technology, enhancing suspension for urban and off-road adaptability. With a wading depth of 450mm, it is well-suited for adventurous terrains.
In terms of storage, the J8 2WD provides a generous 738-litre boot capacity, while the AWD variant offers 200 litres. Inside, both models feature a 12.3-inch media display, a 540-degree panoramic camera, and an array of premium amenities.
The J8 2WD is fitted with a 12-speaker Sony sound system, six airbags, ambient lighting, and faux leather upholstery. Meanwhile, the AWD model boasts a 14-speaker Sony sound system with headrest speakers, 10 airbags, power doors, and an automatic fragrance system.
The J8 also features Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for keyless entry, a ventilated pilot seat, and a built-in digital video recorder (DVR) for enhanced safety. Additionally, the front and second-row seats are electrically powered, incorporating a massage function and curtain shades. The cabin is luxuriously finished with genuine leather upholstery and suede panel trimmings.
For exterior styling, the 2WD variant comes in single-tone options: Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. The AWD model features the same colours but in a dual-tone finish. With a focus on attainable luxury, JAECOO has priced the J8 AWD six-seater at approximately RM220,000, while the J8 2WD five-seater is estimated at RM195,000.
In a bid to showcase its cutting-edge technology, JAECOO is presenting its Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) technology at the J8 Preview Roadshow at 1Utama Shopping Centre.
Following the successful launch of the J7 PHEV in February, visitors can now explore an operational battery pack and engage with product experts to gain deeper insights into JAECOO’s Super Hybrid System.
First unveiled at the Malaysia Auto Show in 2024, the JAECOO J8 is now set to captivate the public. Enthusiasts can register their interest at the JAECOO J8 Preview Roadshow from 27–31 March at 1Utama Shopping Centre (GF Luxe).
