ITMAX Secures RM42 Million DBKL’s Smart Traffic Contract
Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital infrastructure solutions provider, ITMAX System Bhd, has clinched a RM42 million contract from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to operate and maintain the city’s smart traffic controller system for three years.
The project builds on ITMAX’s 2023 deployment of its proprietary smart traffic system across Kuala Lumpur.
The technology, fully developed in-house, integrates CCTV infrastructure with AI analytics to enable real-time traffic monitoring, adaptive signal control and data-driven decision-making, improving traffic flow and road safety.
Managing Director William Tan Wei Lun highlighted the contract as a vote of confidence in Malaysia’s homegrown innovation.
“The system has earned international recognition, winning the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) award and an Industry Award at the ITS World Congress, underscoring Malaysia’s ability to deliver world-class intelligent transport solutions,” Tan said, adding that ITMAX is committed to supporting Kuala Lumpur’s push towards smarter, more connected and efficient urban mobility through locally developed technologies.
