Instapay and Mastercard Partner to Enhance Cross-Border Remittance Services for Migrant Workers in Malaysia
Instapay Technologies has partnered with Mastercard, a global leader in payment technology, to enhance international money transfer services for Instapay users through Mastercard Move—a portfolio of money movement capabilities supporting person-to-person and business payments to over 180 countries in more than 150 currencies.
This collaboration will benefit over three million migrant workers living in Malaysia by enabling near real-time remittances in local currencies to their home countries. Malaysia’s migrant workforce primarily hails from Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and the Philippines, according to data from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The new service also extends to Pakistan, offering users seamless transfers to bank accounts, digital wallets, and cash pickup points, with the added convenience of tracking payment status, fees, and estimated delivery times.
Instapay plans to roll out Mastercard Move capabilities to individual customers in Q2 2025, with future plans to expand the offering to corporate clients.
“We are pleased to deepen our relationship with Mastercard,” said Rajnish Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of Instapay Technologies. “This partnership allows us to tap into Mastercard’s extensive global payment network and cross-border expertise, enabling us to provide our customers with faster, more secure, and cost-effective remittance services.”
“Our aim has always been to use technology to streamline transactions and reduce costs,” he added. “There’s a lot of innovation happening in the cross-border space, and this partnership ensures we remain at the forefront in delivering value-added services to our users.”
Beena Pothen, Country Manager, Malaysia & Brunei, Mastercard, added: “As the global economy becomes more interconnected, the demand for affordable, efficient digital payment solutions is growing—particularly for the millions of migrant workers in Malaysia supporting families abroad.
“Mastercard Move enables fast, secure, and transparent transfers by leveraging our trusted network and advanced cybersecurity tools, giving Instapay users the confidence and flexibility to manage their finances effectively.”
