Google Cloud Appoints Hana Raja as Country Manager for Malaysia
Google Cloud has named Hana Raja as its new Country Manager for Malaysia, reinforcing its strategic focus on accelerating digital transformation and AI-driven innovation across the nation. In her new role, Hana will oversee Google Cloud and Google Workspace’s local go-to-market strategy and operations, working closely with cross-functional teams at Google to empower Malaysian organisations with enterprise-grade, AI-powered cloud technology.
Hana will report to Serene Sia, Country Director for Malaysia and Singapore at Google Cloud, who leads the enterprise, public sector, and corporate business segments across both countries.
Bringing over 16 years of leadership experience, Hana has held senior roles at Cisco and Bain & Company, where she collaborated with executive leadership teams across industries—including financial services, retail, healthcare, energy, and the public sector—to shape sustainable growth strategies and elevate customer experiences.
“Hana joins us at a pivotal time in Google Cloud’s expansion in Malaysia,” said Serene Sia. “We’re making major investments in infrastructure, including the sovereign cloud with Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNeX), a Google Cloud region, and a data center in Elmina Business Park.
“We’re also supporting national-scale initiatives such as AI at Work 2.0 with the Ministry of Digital and the National AI Office (NAIO), and Teraju AI Selangor with the Selangor state government.
“With Hana’s strategic vision, deep industry knowledge, and focus on culture, she’s well-positioned to lead the next phase of our growth and deepen our engagement with local organisations.”
Expressing her enthusiasm, Hana Raja said: “Google Cloud has become a trusted innovation partner for organizations across Malaysia, helping them harness data and AI to drive impact. I’m thrilled to join at this exciting juncture.
“We have ambitious plans for growth and I look forward to building on the strong foundation that’s already in place—expanding our local team, nurturing our partner ecosystem, and working closely with the government and business community. Together, we’ll deliver next-gen digital solutions that strengthen Malaysia’s standing as a regional technology leader.”
Google Cloud’s presence in Malaysia continues to grow rapidly, with a wide-ranging customer base that includes:
- Enterprises such as Bank Muamalat, Capital A, DNeX, Gamuda, Malaysia Airports, and Maxis
- Public sector bodies including the Ministry of Digital, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Selangor State Government, NAIO, JDN, MIDA, and MPC
- Startups like Asia Mobiliti, CARSOME Group, and Mindvalley
In a major milestone for the region, Google announced a US$2 billion investment in May 2024 to establish a Google data center and Google Cloud region in Malaysia. Construction began in October 2024 at Elmina Business Park in Selangor—part of Google’s ongoing collaboration with the Malaysian government to boost digital competitiveness and foster AI innovation at scale.
Hana and Serene are key members of Google Cloud’s Southeast Asia executive leadership team, led by Mark Micallef, Managing Director for Southeast Asia. Other regional leaders include Fanly Tanto (Indonesia), Annop Siritikul (Thailand), and Toan Nguyen Duc (Vietnam).
