Don’t want your Nintendo Switch 2 to become an actual toaster? Stop playing it when your surroundings are 35°C and above

With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 in recent months, there’s no shortage of gamers who just game 24/7 with the portable console. But with the recent heatwaves hitting the likes of Japan, which is the homeland to perhaps the “most lawfully correct” gaming brand out there, an official PSA is reminding players to chill out alongside the machine.

The announcement came in the form of an X post, simply stating that “using the Switch 1 and Switch 2 in a hot environment would make it hot” (DUH), and please “use it within the temperatures of 5°C to 35°C”.

With reports of Japanese units getting real toasty despite fans blowing at full speed, which subsequently led to games and system crashing in both handheld and docked mode (Thanks, NintendoSoup),  it sure felt like a real dilemma because if your room is hot, you’d be lazy, and being lazy leads to no productivity and just gaming all day. Now gaming’s off the list as well. Sucks to be them, honestly.

But it isn’t just “the land of the sun” problem as many other regions such as SEA and the Middle East float around the thirty-five almost all the time if not every day, so if one doesn’t game in an air-conditioned room, chances are these overheating headaches are gonna affect them as well.
