VentureTECH Puts RM28m Into Delta Spike Asia for Malaysian Cyber Defence
Government-backed VentureTECH has committed RM28 million to Delta Spike Asia and IX Telecom, reinforcing Malaysia's push to build Gen AI-driven cyber defence and digital infrastructure capacity.

Government-backed impact investor VentureTECH Sdn Bhd has committed RM28 million (about USD 7.16 million) to two Malaysian platforms, cybersecurity firm Delta Spike Asia Sdn Bhd and digital connectivity operator IX Telecom Sdn Bhd, the firm said on 19 February 2026 (Bernama). The deal signals continued state-directed capital into Malaysia's domestic cyber defence stack at a moment when the country's first dedicated cybersecurity law is live and enterprise demand for managed detection and response (MDR) is climbing.
The deal
VentureTECH split the RM28 million across the two investees, with the allocation to Delta Spike Asia earmarked for platform development, operational scaling and regional expansion. The company runs a Gen AI-driven security operations model that bundles threat detection, incident response, offensive security testing and digital forensics into a single closed-loop cyber defence offering, and currently serves enterprise, financial and telecom clients across multiple regional markets.
The transaction was advised by Zul Rafique & Partners, with both companies structured as Bumiputera-owned platforms operating in sectors the government has flagged as critical to national resilience. Delta Spike Asia is positioned as a managed detection and response (MDR) provider competing for spend that is increasingly flowing to MSSPs as in-house security teams struggle to keep pace with attack volume. IX Telecom, the second investee, is a hybrid virtual network operator with coverage in more than 200 countries and territories; its share of the capital will go to regional scaling and platform commercialisation.
VentureTECH did not disclose valuation or the per-company split. Both investments were signed in mid-February and announced together.
Why this matters
Malaysia's cybersecurity market is on a double-digit growth curve, with the domestic market projected to expand from USD 6.2 billion in 2025 to USD 6.6 billion in 2026, and to USD 9.3 billion by 2031 at a 7.2% CAGR, according to Mercury Securities' coverage of LGMS Berhad's results. Demand is no longer a pure enterprise story: the Cyber Security Act 2024, which came into force last year, now requires licensing for cybersecurity service providers and tighter compliance for businesses managing national critical information infrastructure, pushing mid-market firms toward managed services for the first time.
That regulatory tailwind is exactly the buyer profile Delta Spike Asia is building for. The company's pitch is a Gen-AI augmented security operations centre (SOC) that compresses the cost of running 24/7 monitoring, historically the most expensive line item in an MSSP's stack, by automating triage and response. Similar AI-driven automation is starting to reshape how Malaysian SMEs approach their own back-office and security workflows, a pattern our coverage of AI agencies in Malaysia tracks in adjacent sectors.
For investors, the deal is also a useful data point on how state-linked capital is being deployed under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the broader digital resilience push. VentureTECH is one of the vehicles through which the Ministry of Finance channels impact capital into technology platforms; its cheque tends to come with patient follow-on expectations and operating support rather than aggressive return-of-capital timelines. That profile is now competing for cyber talent with private players such as Gobi Partners (which backed ArmourZero in early 2025) and Ekuinas, which invested in MSSP Bluesify Solutions in March 2025 via its Dana Asas I fund.
What's next
Watch for Delta Spike Asia's first regional expansion announcement, likely into Indonesia or Thailand where regulatory regimes for MSSPs are also tightening, and for a possible Series A within 12 to 18 months if regional revenue scales as planned. IX Telecom is expected to file a commercial update on its 200-country footprint by end-2026, which will be the first concrete data point on whether the platform can convert global coverage into enterprise-grade recurring revenue.
