AI used the right way – Malaysian with galaxy brain creates AI auto reply system that baits scammers into endless convo loop

There’s always the bad following the good in terms of any sort of advancement with technology being one of them. As AI-powered features become more potent, malicious parties are constantly on the lookout to make some dough by scamming people.
What if someone felt like they had enough of all the random “machine voice calls” and shitty emails and decided to the AI magic against scammers themselves?
Well, enter Scammers On Hold AI.
Or abbreviated as SOHAI (A stupid play on a local Chinese curse word, I’d give him an award for coming up with that name), this chatbot is the brainchild of Dylan Tan who’s a Malaysian that founded and is currently the CEO of Singapore-based Replyr.ai.
Last week, he showcased some “live examples” of the chatbot in the Entrepreneurs and Startups in Malaysia Facebook group. Capable of trapping scammers with its AI-generated replies, one can simply share SOHAI’s WhatsApp contact to the bad people and the chatbot will do the rest for you.
With various tactics including conventional excuses, having brain fog moments during discussions, or even going out of topic, SOHAI’s capability to drag out and burn away scammer’s patience is not to be underestimated.
Oh, scammers finally realized they’ve been outplayed and decided to ditch the convo? No worries, it’s UNO reverse time as SOHAI will follow up with the scammer to annoy them by asking them why they are not replying.
Other than cheeky ways to best magic against magic, SOHAI will also tabulate the scammer’s name, the summary of the conversation, as well as the waste tactics that are deployed.
Now that’s one way I’d like to see AI being used to defend against the wicked. No job markets being destroyed, no dead Internet theory, just overall a benefit for humanity.
