Ahmad Zaki Awarded RM430 Million Contract For Cameron Highlands Bypass Project

Ahmad Zaki Resources Berhad (AZRB) has been awarded a major infrastructure contract worth RM430.1 million to construct a new bypass and upgrade existing federal roads in Cameron Highlands, Pahang.

The project, commissioned by the Public Works Department (JKR), is a strategic effort to alleviate chronic traffic congestion in Malaysia’s most popular highland resort.

The extensive 42-month contract focuses on the high-traffic corridor between Tanah Rata and Kea Farm. The project scope includes: Tanah Rata Bypass: Construction of a new bypass road to divert through-traffic away from the congested town center.

Federal Route 59 (FT59) Upgrades: Significant widening and upgrades to the main artery between Tanah Rata and Kea Farm, specifically targeting sections: KM62.7 – KM64.4 KM66.0 – KM68.0 KM69.8 – KM70.8

Federal Route 434 (Jalan Griddle): Comprehensive upgrades to the “Griddle Road” to improve connectivity and safety.

Construction is scheduled to commence on February 16, 2026, with a completion target set for August 2029.

The award is part of a broader infrastructure master plan for Cameron Highlands (2025–2029). The bypass is intended to address the “bottleneck” at Kea Farm and Brinchang, where narrow roads and high tourist volume frequently cause gridlock.
