World App’s human-verified chat is now available in Malaysia
The team behind the World App, Tools for Humanity, has launched the updated application for Malaysians to access, with one of them being World Chat, the encrypted messaging feature built around one core idea – making it easier for Malaysians to know they are talking to real humans in the age of AI.
The announcement was made following a live “Unwrapped” event at the company’s San Francisco headquarters last week, where co-founders Sam Altman and Alex Blania unveiled how private messaging and proof of humanness are now coming together in one app.
At its core, World Network is meant to act as a trust layer for the internet, with World App serving as the main entry point. Globally, adoption has been climbing steadily, with nearly 40 million people now using the app and close to 20 million already verified with World IDs.
As for how it works, it runs on a secure, privacy-first messaging experience focused on authenticity and real human connection, with messages protected using the XMTP protocol, delivering end-to-end encryption that meets or even exceeds the standards set by Signal, all without requiring a phone number or collecting metadata.
To make things even clearer, chat bubbles visually indicate whether a contact is a verified human through World ID, while an upcoming feature will allow users to optionally verify that their profile photo matches their real face, helping reduce deepfakes across areas like dating, commerce, and online communities.
Taken together, these updates mark a major step toward a safer and more trustworthy digital environment. By combining proof of humanness and encrypted messaging into a single global platform, Tools for Humanity is positioning World App as a key building block for a more human internet.
