CelcomDigi teams up with government agencies to launch Malaysia’s first AI-powered traffic intelligence platform
CelcomDigi has announced that they are joining hands with MyDigital, MDEC, Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), and Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) to roll out Malaysia’s very first AI-powered traffic intelligence platform.
The announcement came at the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025, where the focus was on how AI can shape future cities. And with CelcomDigi’s expertise in providing 5G and AI capabilities with MBPJ’s local city management expertise, the project is meant to tackle headaches like traffic jams, long intersection queues, road safety issues, and even future infrastructure planning.
The pilot will kick off across several hotspots in the Damansara constituency of Petaling Jaya, including PJ Sentral, SS2, and parts of the Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP).
Using AI-driven platforms and real-time analytics, CelcomDigi will feed insights straight into the city council’s systems to enable smarter traffic light management with predictive flow adjustments, data-backed urban planning for new roads and upgrades, and dynamic road diversions during peak hours or emergencies.
On top of that, the project supports the government’s JENDELA initiative, strengthening how data and connectivity play a role in innovation.
