MDEC Launches DEX CONNEX Philippines 2025 to Deepen Malaysia-Philippines Digital Ties
The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has officially launched its flagship market access programme, DEX CONNEX, in the Philippines. Kicking off a two-day initiative, the 2025 edition marks a significant step in strengthening digital economic collaboration between Malaysia and the Philippines.
DEX CONNEX Philippines 2025 brings together 49 Malaysian tech companies and 43 Filipino partners, creating a vibrant platform for cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange, and market expansion. This initiative forms part of MDEC’s broader Digital Exports (DEX) Programme, which aims to accelerate the global growth of Malaysian tech companies through strategic partnerships and access to high-potential markets.
A major milestone of the launch was the exchange of 14 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including a landmark agreement between MDEC and DBP Data Center Inc. (DCI). The MoU was signed by MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil and DCI President and CEO Michielson L. Luakian, symbolising both countries’ commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure and fostering innovation.
“Today’s launch marks a new chapter in the growing partnership between Malaysia and the Philippines. Through DEX CONNEX, we aim to catalyse cross-border innovation and unlock new economic opportunities—championing our digital companies and advancing Malaysia’s position as a regional digital powerhouse,” said Anuar.
He added, “Our shared vision with our Filipino counterparts is to nurture inclusive and sustainable digital growth. By deepening ASEAN ties and leveraging our tech ecosystem’s strengths, we’re confident in achieving long-term, meaningful impact.”
Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, emphasised that as ASEAN Chair this year, Malaysia is committed to enhancing regional digital collaboration. He stated that,“Platforms like DEX CONNEX are indispensable for driving exponential growth, empowering Malaysian and Filipino enterprises to forge strategic alliances, co-develop innovative solutions, and scale across borders.”
Among the 14 MoUs exchanged, key collaborations included partnerships between:
These strategic partnerships have already resulted in over RM150 million in business engagements, reinforcing the programme’s role in positioning Malaysian tech solutions on the global stage.
Since its rollout across the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam in 2024, DEX CONNEX has connected more than 180 companies, unlocking over US$271.35 million (RM1.196 billion) in potential commercial opportunities throughout the region.
DEX CONNEX Philippines 2025 is organised in partnership with DBP Data Center Inc., the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, MATRADE Manila, and various local industry stakeholders. The programme continues on 24 April with curated business matching sessions designed to drive tangible outcomes for participating companies.
