MACC Launches Probe On UKM Over Financial Mismanagement Claim In AG Report
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has announced it will initiate a preliminary investigation next week into Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) following damaging findings in the Auditor-General’s Report recently.
The commission confirmed today that the probe will scrutinize whether the university’s financial irregularities involve elements of corruption, abuse of power, misappropriation, or legal breaches under the MACC’s jurisdiction.
The investigation is a direct response to the Auditor-General’s findings, which highlighted several critical governance failures within the national university. According to the MACC, the probe will focus on the matter related to the unauthorised fee collection, unrecorded revenue and on general financial mismanagement.
The commission emphasised that its officers would act with total independence and professionalism, ensuring that the investigation remains free from prejudice toward any party involved.
Should evidence of criminal conduct be found, the MACC has vowed to take appropriate action under the MACC Act 2009 or other relevant laws.
The Audit report released earlier this month, has sent shockwaves through the public sector, revealing multi-million ringgit leakages across several government-linked agencies and educational institutions.
