Liberty Employees Build Furniture for Rural Schools in 2025 #ServeWithLiberty Drive

Liberty General Insurance Berhad (Liberty) has reinforced its commitment to community service through the 2025 edition of its #ServeWithLiberty employee volunteering programme, with this year’s efforts focused on the ‘Nurture with Furniture’ initiative.

From 5 to 8 May, more than 580 Liberty employees—known as Liberty Torchbearers—from the Head Office and Klang Valley branches gathered at PARC Subang Jaya to build bookshelves, wall shelves and shoe racks using upcycled wood.

On 9 May 2025, Liberty officially donated 293 pieces of handcrafted furniture to four schools on Carey Island: Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Judah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bumbun, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Pulau Carey Barat, and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Pulau Carey Timur.

The initiative saw Liberty Torchbearers come together with a shared purpose—creating practical, sustainable furniture for schools in need. It forms part of the company’s broader mission to support education and uplift communities.

“Our #ServeWithLiberty programme is all about empowering our people to give back in ways that are meaningful and sustainable,” said Puneet Pasricha, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty General Insurance Berhad. “We believe our success is not just measured by business growth, but by the positive impact we create in the lives of those around us.”

Beyond benefiting schoolchildren, the project also strengthened teamwork and unity among employees, who were actively involved in every step of the process. It gave them the opportunity to contribute directly to improving facilities in underserved schools, making a visible and lasting difference.

The annual #ServeWithLiberty programme remains a cornerstone of Liberty’s corporate social responsibility strategy, focusing on causes such as environmental sustainability, education, and community welfare. This year’s initiative underscores Liberty’s continued commitment to building brighter futures, particularly for children in rural areas.
