History of Kumon
The Kumon Method was founded in 1954 when Toru Kumon created a series of math exercises for his son, Takeshi, who was struggling with second-grade arithmetic. By practicing these exercises daily, Takeshi excelled, eventually solving calculus problems by the time he was in sixth grade.
Encouraged by this success, Toru began teaching the method to other children, formalizing the Kumon Method in 1958. Over the decades, Kumon expanded globally, earning a reputation for academic excellence and empowering children to become confident, self-reliant learners.
