Our Story

Founded in Southern California in 1963, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® is a globally recognized specialty coffee and tea house dedicated to bringing the finest flavors from around the world to our customers. Inspired by a passion for gourmet coffee and tea, our founders, Herbert & Mona Hyman, opened a small store in Brentwood, California, with a vision to share the rich, artisanal coffee culture they had experienced during their travels to Europe.

From sourcing premium Arabica beans from Costa Rica, Colombia, and Kenya to crafting exquisite tea blends using the top two leaves and a bud, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® quickly became a pioneer in the specialty coffee and tea industry. Over the decades, our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and innovation has transformed our brand from a local coffee house into a global phenomenon.
